These terms cover your use of Maren. They're written to be read. The short version: Maren helps you keep and recall your own memory, it drafts things for you to approve but never acts on your behalf, your content is yours, and the AI can be wrong, so check anything you rely on.
By using Maren you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Maren is operated by Maren Technologies, LLC (Missouri, USA). Maren is only for people aged 18 or older, and a neutral age check at the start enforces this. By using Maren you confirm you are at least 18.
Maren is a personal-memory companion. It helps you capture and recall your own life, and it can draft things for you from your memory: a message, a calendar event, a list, a form. Maren drafts; you decide.
You agree not to: use Maren unlawfully; upload content you have no right to store; store or share illegal content (including any child sexual abuse material: we report and remove it as required by law); attempt to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service; or use Maren to harm others. We may suspend or end access that violates these terms or puts the service or others at risk.
Your memory and content are yours. Maren claims no ownership of them. You grant Maren only the limited permission needed to run the service for you: to store, process, and transmit your content (including sending the relevant slice to our AI provider) so Maren can reply, organize, and show it back to you. We do not sell your content and do not use your private content to train models. You're responsible for what you choose to store and that you have the right to store it.
Maren is an AI. Its replies, drafts, insights, and extracted facts are generated by a model and may be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Do not rely on Maren for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice; review anything you act on. If you express thoughts of self-harm, Maren will point you to crisis resources: this is a referral, not counseling or emergency services. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number.
The Solo plan starts with a 14-day free trial of the whole product, and no payment method is needed to start it. If you subscribe, payment is collected and held by the app store or Stripe and never by Maren. The Together plan has no trial and is billed from the start. Paid subscriptions are Solo ($12/month) and Together ($25/month for up to five adults in a household), with options that may be added over time. If the trial ends and you haven't subscribed, your account pauses: Maren stops replying and acting for you, but your memory stays yours to read, edit, export, and delete, and service resumes when you subscribe. On the iOS and Android apps, subscriptions are sold and billed through Apple and Google; on the web, through Stripe. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them where you bought them (your App Store / Play account, or your Maren web account). Store purchases are also subject to that store's terms.
Maren is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maren Technologies, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Missouri, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to your local courts. We may update these Terms; if a change is material we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Maren after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
